Meet Tucson Chiropractor Dr. Jim Westerman

Tucson chiropractor, Dr. Jim Westerman"I had never heard the word 'chiropractor' until my wife's friend  recommended she consult one for relief of her chronic headaches," remembers Dr. Jim Westerman. "My wife had taken medication without much relief but after only two chiropractic treatments, her headaches were gone. This was truly amazing to me. During one of her appointments, I talked to her chiropractor and he educated me how the body was designed to be healthy but when the nerves become irritated it can produce all sorts of symptoms, with headaches being one of them. Without addressing the cause the symptoms will return which is why medication doesn't solve the root of the problem."

"I was at a time in my life when I was looking for a career. I had already received a degree in education, but I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my degree. What I did know was that I didn't want to teach in public schools. It just so happened that a chiropractic college was located in our city. I already had fulfilled the prerequisites and had some money left from my military service so I started chiropractic school. God really does works in mysterious ways. That was in 1980. After graduating from chiropractic school I began practicing in Seattle and continued there for 15 years until we moved to sunny Tucson in 1998.

My heart goes out to people in pain and that's why our mission is to help people achieve a pain free, healthy life through chiropractic care.  Health is a state of optimal physical and mental well-being. We at NW Health Solutions and Spinal Aid Center enjoy working with motivated individuals who recognize it takes a willingness to change and realize it requires making a commitment to achieve optimal health and wellness.

I have been married to my wife Kim since 1977. We have three grown children. Two daughters, one in Colorado and one in Phoenix and our son is currently serving our country in the military. Our family has been very active in fitness and sports. Kim taught fitness at the local high school for nine years and retired early to join the practice as Office Manager. Our children played a variety of team sports in high school and my oldest daughter played college basketball. I have played competitive handball for 25 years. My spiritual life is very important to me. I strive to be an example of the grace extended to me and a steward of the blessings God has given me.

I believe that it is essential to be in the best of health for my family, my patients and myself.  I watch my diet, drink plenty of water, get enough rest, exercise 5-6 days per week and get chiropractic care from several nearby colleagues on a regular basis.

Over utilization of medication, both prescription and over the counter, is a great concern of mine. Don't get me wrong, there is a time when medication is needed however, many people use it to alter or eliminate their symptom without influencing the underlying cause. One of the greatest tragedies I see regularly is with retired people. We plan for our golden years to be one of having time to enjoy leisure activities and the fruits of our labor. It is common to be forced to give up golf, travel, hiking, or gardening because the body is unable to tolerate those activities any longer. The sooner health issues are addressed the better you will feel now and in the time to come.

Thanks for visiting our site. Give us a a call so we may discuss your specific health challenge."

Dr. Jim Asks some important questions of interest to Tucson residents - Chiropractor Tucson Dr. Jim Asks...

Why are some people allergic to pollen and others aren't?
It's not the pollen. Chiropractors know that if it were, everyone would be allergic to pollen, nuts and pet dander. But that's not the case. It's the person, not the pollen! If you live in Tucson and your stress levels are high, then each year the grass, the trees or the weeds put your nervous system over the top. Many report that chiropractic care helps reduce the frequency and severity of their allergic response.
What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Tucson folks recognize that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
